Safety, and who should not use a chamber

Most dealers will not publish this page, because every line of it is a reason someone might not buy. We would rather you knew.

The one absolute contraindication

An untreated pneumothorax — a collapsed lung — is the single absolute contraindication to hyperbaric therapy at any pressure. Pressurized air can worsen it dangerously. If this applies to you, do not use a chamber of any kind until it has been treated and your physician clears you.

Conditions requiring medical clearance first

Never alone

Whatever the chamber, someone else should be in the home and aware that a session is running. This is standard practice, not an abundance of caution. Controls on these chambers are mirrored inside and out precisely so an occupant can depressurize themselves — but a second person is the backstop.

Fire and materials

Mild soft-shell chambers operate at lower pressure and with ambient air rather than concentrated oxygen, which materially reduces fire risk compared with high-pressure oxygen environments. That is not permission to be careless: no electronics with exposed batteries, no oils or petroleum products on skin or fabric, no synthetic blankets, nothing that can spark.

What we will not tell you

We will not tell you a chamber treats, cures or prevents any disease. It is a wellness device, not a medical treatment, and anyone selling one to you as therapy for a diagnosed condition is telling you something they cannot support. What people report — and what the honest claim is — is better recovery, better sleep, and feeling clearer. That is worth a great deal, and it does not need to be exaggerated.

Not sure whether it is right for you?

Talk to your physician first — genuinely, before you talk to us. Then tell us what they said and we will tell you honestly whether we think a chamber fits.
